Stranded Dog Saved From Flood In Mexico After It Was Found Clinging To A Building

Southern Mexico is being flooded by storm waters and one lucky yellow labrador was rescued just in the brink of time.

The Mexican Navy has been deployed on rescue missions in the flooded territories and one rescue boat in Tabasco happened to spot the struggling dog. The lab was desperately clinging to a metal window cover trying to keep his head above water.

In a video posted to the Secretaría de Marina’s Facebook page, you can see the shivering dog using his paws to cling to the building. The Navy team knew the dog was in trouble and made the decision to help. They directed their boat to pull up alongside the pooch. As soon as they’re close enough, one of the rescue members reaches his hand out and gently pets the dog’s head.

It seems as if the dog recognizes their good intentions and he reaches out a paw to ask for help. The man in the video helps guide the dog’s paws to the edge of the boat before gently pulling him up and into the little vessel.

After sharing the video, the Secretaría de Marina posted an update showing the dog safe and healthy. They even decided to welcome the dog on as an official member of their Navy!

The Mexican Navy is also asking for the public’s help in naming the good boy. You can offer name suggestions by emailing redessociales@semar.gob.mx with your name idea and contact information.

Due to a combination of two cold fronts and Tropical Strom Eta, at least 35,000 homes have been destroyed in Tabasco alone. Chiapas and Veracruz are also suffering from the extremely heavy rains and dozens of people are estimated to have died in the floodwaters.

The Mexican Navy has been working tirelessly to help the flood victims and without their efforts, it’s unclear what would’ve happened to the stranded dog, though we can only assume the worst.

Thankfully, this lucky boy is now safe, healthy, and working as part of the team who saved him!
