Woman Adopts A 10-Year-Old Goldfish And Completely Transforms Him

When most people think of animal rescue stories, they picture dogs rescued from abusive owners, farm animals rescued from poor conditions, or even zoo animals rescued from neglect. Most people wouldn’t think about saving or rehabilitation a goldfish, but that’s precisely what Lacey Scott set out to do.

Scott rescued the 10-year-old fish from a pet store, where it was quickly dying. The fish was black and covered in sores and unable to swim. But with a little TLC and rehabilitation, that goldfish regained its beautiful golden color and learned to swim again!

The artist and sculptor has a TikTok following of over 55,000 people. When she shared her rescue goldfish’s remarkable transformation, it was no surprise that the video quickly accumulated over 1 million likes.

When Scott rescued the fish she named Monstro in 2019, she wasn’t’ sure how long he had left to live. He was pure black at the time. As she nursed him back to health, his color began to change back to its original neon red.

You can watch the incredible transformation in the TikTok video below:

Scott used a small, shallow bowl to begin nursing Monstro back to health. Since he couldn’t swim and was covered in sores, she used salted water for his “hospital” tank. She replaced the water daily and gave him plenty of love and attention.

Eventually, Monstro started swimming again and regained his appetite. Scott transferred him to a larger tank and even got him a few friends!

She said, “I don’t know how long he has left. But he’ll spend the rest of his days happy and loved.”

This might just be the best rescue story of the year!
