Gorilla Makes Sure Injured Bird Is Okay After It Gets Trapped In His Enclosure

Gorillas are often thought of as intimidating, possibly dangerous, animals. Of all the primates, they’re usually thought of as the “scariest.” But one video shows just how gentle they can truly be.

In the video taken at a zoo in New South Wales, Australia, viewers can see a large gorilla strutting across its enclosure – only to check on a tiny, injured bird.

The impressively-sized animal confidently approaches the bird that’s lying on the floor of his enclosure and looks down at it. In the video, people in the background can be heard worrying about the primate getting the bird, possibly injuring it. No one was quite sure what to expect.

However, everyone was relieved at what the gorilla did next. Not only did the gorilla refuse to hut the bird, but he tried to help it!

First, he laid his head on the ground and nudged the little creature with his face. When that didn’t seem to work, he sat back up and looked around, almost as if looking for backup help.

Then, he gently pokes at the bird, encouraging it to fly. His encouragement does produce a little flapping, but nothing more. He does this a few times before resting his head back in the grass and examining the bird up close.

Finally, it seems as if he gives up on the bird and walks away, leaving it safe in the grass of his enclosure. Who knows, perhaps he went to seek out help from a zookeeper or fellow gorilla. Either way, that’s one gentle and kind-hearted gorilla!
