The first two meerkats which came to the Hakuna Mipaka Oasis were Eliot and Lina. Both came from private sanctuary’s which couldn’t take care of them anymore. Later Ilay and Timon joint the family. They are all between 1 and 2 years old. Lina is pregnant right now and there are soon going to be moved into a bigger camp. They live as wild as possible, in a camp close to the Oasis. As soon as the babies are born, strong enough and the family big enough, they will be reintroduced into the wild area of the farm.
